Lantern Theater Company To Honor Long-Time Friends and Supporters Eileen Murphy and Patricia O'Halloran at 2010 Happy Days Soiree on Friday, April 16, 2010
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 26, 2010 Lantern Theater Company is thrilled to announce that it will honor sisters Eileen Murphy and Patricia O'Halloran with the 2010 Luminary Award for Excellence in Leadership at its 2010 Annual Benefit on Friday, April 16, 2010, from 7pm to 10pm. The Happy Days Soiree will be held at the elegant Down Town Club at 6th & Chestnut Streets in Center City, and will include cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, dinner and dessert, plus live music from the Alex Hiele Trio and a Silent Auction featuring exclusive vacations, fine dining, entertainment, adventures, sports, and other unique items. All proceeds will benefit the Lantern's artistic and educational programming, which reaches over 16,000 adults and children each year. Ticket prices range from $75-$1,000 and are now on sale at www.lanterntheater.org or 215.829.9002 x101. Honorees Eileen Murphy and Patricia ("Tricia") O'Halloran are long-time Lantern supporters and dear friends. Tricia created the Lantern's Board of Directors, strategically leading the company through its first seven years as President. Eileen has served on the Lantern Board, co-chaired several of the company's annual benefits, and hosted countless Lantern parties in her home. Together, they have delighted in dragging everyone they know – and some they don't – to the Lantern, sharing "the best kept secret in Philadelphia theater." Tricia and Eileen are truly citizens of the world. They spent their childhoods in Kenya, and their families have collectively called England, France, Brazil, Ireland, Wales, South Africa, Hong Kong, Cayman Islands, Singapore, Canada, and the United States home. While life has taken them in different professional directions – Eileen was a nurse and Tricia is an artist – both are very giving women who value the arts, family, and community service. Tricia has served on the Boards of Delaware Valley Friends School and Gladwyne Montessori, where she also taught. In the last ten years she has focused on her art, studying at PAFA, teaching other artists, and showing her work at such venues as Da Vinci Art Alliance and The Muse Gallery. Eileen is a natural entertainer whose penchant for storytelling is legendary. She regularly volunteers for the Pennsylvania Ballet, Project H.O.M.E., and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and she chaired the 2009 Red Tie Gala for the Deborah Charity Hospital. Eileen and her husband Dr. David Murphy have three children and share a love of international travel. Tricia is mother to four sons, and teaches in the United States, Ireland, Cayman Islands, and Italy. The Happy Days Soiree is co-chaired by Cristian David and Jon Fishwick of Center City, Nina Schwartz Rosenthal of Villanova, and Adam and Sarah Weinstein of Ardmore. The event is expected to raise $35,000 in support of Lantern Theater Company's artistic and educational programming.
